About Me

It Is Everyone's Job to Care for the Earth

My parents took caring for the environment very seriously when I was growing up, and I learned many great lessons during those years about just how to live an eco-friendly lifestyle. When I met my husband, I noticed that he drove a "gas guzzler" vehicle, but I fell in love with him anyway! When we eventually got married and moved in together, I realized just how much he neglected the environment. Thankfully, he was very receptive to my lessons about caring for the earth and I realized that he didn't want to harm the planet, but he just didn't realize he was doing it. This made me realize that there are likely many other people out there who just don't know how their small everyday actions affect the environment. I decided to start a blog to share my tips for protecting the earth with everyone who wants to learn!

3 Options For Getting Rid Of Leftover Paint After A Project

If you have been doing some painting work in your home, you might be happy that you have finally finished your project. However, if you are left with leftover paint, you might be unsure of what to do with it. As you might already know, you generally can't just toss paint in the dumpster. However, you do have a few options. These are three ways that you can get rid of your leftover paint.

1. Give it Away

One good option is to give your paint away. Even though you might not have a lot of paint left, it might be the perfect amount for someone who is looking to tackle a small project or someone who just enjoys working on crafts. Consider advertising your free leftover paint on an online classified site, or ask around to see if anyone you know wants it. This can be the ultimate way of recycling it and ensuring that someone else can get some use out of it.

2. Take it to a Paint Store

Have you contacted the store that you purchased the paint from to inquire about getting rid of the leftovers? Some paint stores will actually allow you to drop off old paint, which they can dispose of for you. This is because these stores often already have relationships with hazardous waste companies for the paint that they need to get rid of, so they might be willing to dispose of yours for free or for a small fee.

3. Contact a Hazardous Waste Company

There are companies out there that specialize in taking care of hazardous waste, including chemicals and paint. Call one of these companies to find out more about how to safely get rid of your paint. Someone might come out and pick it up for you, or they might have a drop-off location where you can get rid of the paint. Either way, you can feel good in knowing that the company will dispose of the paint in a safe and legal manner so that you do not have to worry about it anymore.

If you have found yourself dealing with leftover paint after a painting project, you could be unsure of how to proceed or how to get rid of it. Luckily, you do have options. These are a few different options that you can look into when determining how to get rid of the paint that you no longer need.
